We are delighted to bring two new sponsors to the table for the Homeless 5 Nations Cup, a football tournament with will be held on 8th and 9th September 2016 at Queens Playing Fields.
The Homeless Soccer 5 Nations Cup has been organised by Street Soccer NI, a registered charity which was founded in East Belfast in 2010. It was created as a way to encourage disadvantaged groups of society, such as the homeless and long term unemployed, to re-engage with the East Belfast Mission.
Street Soccer works with 40-60 young men per week, and will select a squad of eight to take part in the Home Nations’ games to play against Scotland, England Wales and Republic of Ireland teams.
Justin McMinn, Co-Founder of Street Soccer NI said ‘Street Soccer NI is delighted to have support from Helm Housing and McComb Coaches for the upcoming event in September. To run a successful event you need supporters who are passionate about the cause and see the value in the project. Helm already do great work with the homeless, helping them sustain their tenancies and creating healthy communities so we are very grateful to have them come on board with us. This tournament will have 80 homeless people from around the UK and Ireland representing their country in Belfast and it will be memorable experience which could open the door for hosting the Homeless World Cup here one day.’
